Research Overview

Research in the Navarro Lab focuses on the development of new chemical transformations that facilitate the synthesis of biologically active natural products. In addition to their utility as therapeutics, natural products often serve a point of inspiration for organic chemists. Their stereochemical and structural complexity provides a unique arena in which we can push and extend the boundaries of modern synthetic transformations.

Within this context, our lab seeks to expand the breadth of palladium-catalyzed decarboxylative coupling reactions by exploiting the reactivity of aromatic anions. We anticipate that our synthetic endeavors will not only culminate in the preparation of natural products, but will also deepen our fundamental understanding of organic reactions and mechanisms.
